PumpLinx EGM Thermal Modeling

ABSTRACT

In typical positive displacement machines, the working fluid heats up as it is being displaced from the suction (low pressure) side to the delivery side (high pressure). This heating is caused by the losses from sources such as viscous dissipation and churning in such machines being dissipated into heat. In particular, the present work was focused on accurate thermoelastohydrodynamic (TEHD) modeling of the lateral lubricating interface between gears and lateral bushes in external gear machines (EGM).
